One Body, Many Parts
By Christine Kazar
The team at the Center of Hope took a new approach to the English lesson by beginning the class with singing a song that taught the Nuba refugee children about God’s love. The children learned that while English and school are important, knowing God’s Word is even more important.
In the previous lessons they learned the English vocabulary for different parts of the body, and the new one was about the different actions associated with them. This provided the transition needed for talking about the body being made up of many parts that have different roles. The Hope for MENA team members explained that they are created unique with gifts and talents they can use to serve one another. The children listened with rapt attention how important is to help, encourage and care for each other.
When the time came to conclude the lesson with the song the children learned, they all sang more confidently and joyfully than before. The room still rang with their singing when it was time to clean up and put chairs away. It was a great encouragement seeing them dance the motions and sing the new words from memory. Pray that they will continue learning how to love and accept each other as one body, many parts.
