Bringing hope to the hopeless
Every week, Hope for MENA team is visiting various refugee families to pray with them and help the poorest of the poor with their practical needs. This week we take you to a journey with Zac - 19 years old, volunteer from Ireland.
This is what he shared: "Eight stories high in an housing building, the door opens and we are greeted by a two year old boy who shakes our hand. He leads us into the main room where the rest of the family are sitting. This is so nice to see but it is what follows that shocks me.
Their home is extremely small for having so many family members. There is a baby, some children, a mother and a sick grandmother. There is no father in the house. The room is covered in flies and what strikes me most is the two or three flies moving around on the baby’s face. The living conditions are tough.
In contrast with the conditions, the family is nice and hospitable. The kids always seem to have a smile on their face but you can tell it is not easy for the mother. She shared with us how she has to look after the children and also provide for all of them, which is an extremely difficult task with no husband or anyone else to help.
Their faith is such an inspiration. This family has hope in a hopeless situation, all because of God, and the work He is doing, through Hope for MENA's team in particular.
Please pray for God's protection and providence for this family and other like it. Pray that God replaces their stress with peace, and He helps them to shine in their communities for Him.
I feel privileged to have encountered these people so I encourage you to pray, to give and feed a family or to come and join us in the ministry!"
