Emergency Appeal for a Refugee Mother
By Christine Kazar
What if a car accident left you with a broken arm, a few broken ribs, and no medical treatment for five days?
“Amina* is thirty years old and has eight children. Today she was hit by a car.”
The previous cheerfulness in the living room vanished, and every face turned suddenly grim. All eyes were on Amina* who just had just come from the hospital where they had taken her friend. The Hope for MENA team sat speechless in their chairs as Amina relayed more details of the accident’s aftermath.
“The hospital made her pay 25% of her family’s income for an X-Ray she never saw. Her arm is swollen so they gave her a sling, but no medication. They won’t treat her with anything, and the police aren’t helping. It’s because we’re Sudanese (refugees).” She added the last sentence as a hopeless afterthought.
The group of women sat in silence for a while, everyone’s mind a mix of emotions. This poor mother is suffering excruciating pain with able hands refusing to help. Her husband’s salary is barely sufficient to cover rent and food for their family, and she is unable to work for at least a month. She needs medical help and quickly. Her eight children also need her.
Let’s show this refugee family they are not alone. The Hope for MENA team has begun to take steps to help. Please lift up this mother of eight in your prayers to God tonight.
- Pray for urgent medical help
- Pray for the recovery process
- Ask God to provide for her family’s needs while she’s out of work
- Ask God to change the hearts of people who mistreat refugees
Please click below to help this family out financially. Another X-Ray would cost $28. So little helps so much.
