Restoring hope for the Holidays

By Elizabeth Baptist Church Team

An American team of Jesus Followers is aiming to elevate His name and transform the life of a refugee family in just three days.

With festive fun brewing in the air, getting gifts wrapped and roasting dinners, we get excited for this most jolly time of the year. But for Monica and her family, it doesn’t feel a lot like Christmas.

Meet Monica and her five children, Miriam, Farsi, Victoria, Joseph and Estera, whose dreams were shattered because of the painful experience of fleeing from their home, leaving all that was familiar. Monica, who is nine month pregnant, fled to Northern Africa leaving her husband behind who is lost in war torn Sudan.

The apartment they share has no furniture, no chairs, no tables, no sofa and not even a proper mattress to rest their heads on. The bathroom needs repair and there is no running water needed for daily survival.

Monica, 32, forced to raise her five children alone, is in desperate need of a crib, vitamins, and healthy food options now that she is eating for two.

She longs for everything a newborn will need like diapers, baby blankets, bottles, formula and baby clothes.

Miriam, ten years old, has dreams of one day becoming a doctor so she can care for other refugees. Unable to attend school, Miriam sleeps on a cold hard floor with only a thin blanket to call a bed. Her siblings all share a room with just two thin mats on the floor. No pillows, no sheets or blankets to keep warm.

Farsi, eight years old, greeted us with a beautiful bright smile. He hopes to one day go to school to learn math and science so he can become an engineer.

At the tender age of five, Victoria already has her sights set on one day standing in front of a classroom and educating others as a teacher. Unfortunately, without access to an education herself, that dream feels far away.

The average three year old needs about 10-13 hours of sleep each day. They also need proper nourishment for healthy development. But Joseph and Esthera, three year old twins, do not have a bed to call their own. Their playground does not exist and there is nothing in the apartment to pique their curiosity and help them to learn.

Over the next THREE DAYS

We are believing that God, through you, will provide this family with beds, furniture, running water, food, schools costs and other basic necessities to make their house a home for the Holidays.

We have set up a shop where you can donate or purchase items to transform their living spaces into a home and show the tangible love of Jesus to Monica and her family. Our team will personally deliver these gifts on your behalf so we can tell a story bigger than ourselves.

Your generosity will have an incredible impact on the family’s lives, restoring hope, letting them know that they are seen, valued and loved.
