Christmas where we live is a time of hope, joy, and giving. But in the devastated slums of North Africa, where we met Ehlas and her 6 children, it’s just another day to survive.
This program is a beautiful thing - using the garbage found in the village to empower women, training them and providing an income to support a whole family.
The room was full. Fourteen women sat on chairs occupied an hour ago by students at the Centre of Hope. Several women held babies in one arm whilst balancing books and pens in the other.
Being illiterate does not stop Mary from participating in the course. Her creativity and skill for sewing is how she hopes to start her clothing business and provide for her children.
