The Power of Prayer

Prayer? Didn't this go out of style decades ago? The truth is, prayer is for today! In fact, now more than ever!

The efficacy of prayer has been discussed in many fields such as theology, philosophy, history, medicine, and psychology. Prayer is such a powerful force. We underestimate it so much. Prayer can move mountains if only we would let it. If only we would realise just how powerful prayer can be, we would never feel hopeless.

Nothing is too trivial or too big to pray for either. Sometimes, we get overwhelmed by a situation such as a war or a famin and feel we can do nothing to help. We can. We can pray.

"Then they cried to the LORD in their trouble, and he saved them from their distress.  He sent out his word and healed them; he rescued them from the grave. Let them give thanks to the LORD for his unfailing love and his wonderful deeds for mankind." Psalm 107:19-21

When you hear an ambulance or walk past a hospital, say a quick prayer for whoever is sick and for those who are caring for them. When you see someone in difficulties on the street, say a prayer for them.

We all need to expand our circle of prayers out from ourselves, our family and friends. You are being called upon to pray for other people – including people in the world whom you have never met.

"So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand." Isaiah 41:10

Each and every one of us has been demonstrated the power of prayer in our own life. Think about when God answered a prayer for you last time. Stop for a moment and praise His name.
