Medical prayer ministry

By Ernee R. for Hope for MENA

If I told you that the three of us were whisked away in a private car, you might imagine we were important people traveling to a special event. Well, I can say that we were “important” people only because we had the privilege of visiting four Sudanese refugee families who had expressed a need for medical care … what I would call a very special event.

Our driver delivered us to a neighborhood alive with people breaking their Ramadan fast for the evening. We walked from building to building and up many flights of stairs before being welcomed into each home.

Using a translator, our two gracious nurses tried to discern how they could help each individual. Whether medicine was given out, blood sugar level tested, or recommendations for changes in diet, the common denominator was that it is the Lord who would bring healing and hope to each one.

It was good to be there. The families we visited with seemed like our brothers and sisters…it felt like a family. We are all children of one Father and although we can only do a little, I pray that through our faith in and love for God, all of us will be filled with the Holy Spirit and be a light in this dark world.

At the end of each meeting there was a time for prayer and an invitation for God to enter into the situation to bring healing, peace, and the grace needed to help in their time of need.

Our bond in Jesus was sure, and while we wish we could say they were all healed that evening, we pray they were all blessed by the loving heart of God…we definitely were.
