The Hope for MENA team presented the nativity story to more than 70 Sudanese refugee families earlier this week (23 December 2016), sharing the important and inspirational message of how Jesus' birth over 2,000 years ago continues to transforms lives today.
The 13-strong serving team - made up of members from as far as Costa Rica to Australia - also sang carols, shared testimonies and prayed for the congregation.
Praying for spiritual and physical healing for the men, women and children who have recently fled Sudan to escape genocide - with few possessions and family - the Holy Spirit filled the room as both English and Arabic prayers were lifted up to God.
One of the women who the team prayed for was carrying her small boy who was born with Polio and has never walked. Both legs wrapped in braces, she told us there's nothing the doctors can do for him. She has three other young children to also care for.
Following the church service, the team distributed blankets to 70 families to keep them warm this Christmas - which they were very thankful for (it's approximately twice as cold in North Africa compared to Khartoum this time of year). But, no more than the outreach team whose eyes and hearts had been opened to the challenges faced by this community.
Through the local outreach work among the Sudanese refugees, the house church group has multiplied more than 10 times over since starting just one year ago - proving that the will of God is strong.
We would like to thank to our ministry partners who helped us with their donations to spread hope and joy among the Sudanese Refugees.
