Although many people are unaware, there is destruction in the homeland of the Sudanese refugees. Their own leader seeks to wipe them out by dropping bombs on their villages.
This is unacceptable; however, the world has been kept in the dark and has not taken action to preserve the lives of the Sudanese. Those who are lucky (and have exorbitant funds) have made their way to foreign lands seeking safety.
While safe in a new land, many of the children have fallen behind in their education and cannot attend school. The Center of Hope is working diligently to change this reality. With visitors coming to teach English, as well as teachers from Sudan who cover a wide range of subjects, these children are being brought up to grade level so that they can continue their educations in a school. As a part of the program, children are also being given food for the week as well as having school fees covered when they can attend.
Can you imagine what these children have been through at the age of 12 or even younger?
They have been slaughtered in their homes, left behind family members, moved to a foreign land, and been stigmatized in this place they are supposed to call home now.
Please come alongside us as we seek to empower the Sudanese refugees by sponsoring a child. You can do so on our the website.
The need does not stop there. Keep these children in your thoughts. Don't let their identities slip away like their safety did. Life is valuable even on the other side of the world.
I find it quite ironic that during my time working with the Sudanese refugees I'm teaching English. While my entire family is made up of teachers, I have sworn up and down that I would never be a teacher. It's so wonderful to see that even when I plan things, there is a far better plan being carried out.
